Hej !!

I am so sorry it has been so long my dearests, but I finally GRADUATED and now am ready to become a full time blogger again. Last night, I arrived in Stockholm for Christmas and it is soo beautiful. During the drive in, the entire country side was covered in a blanket of snow and all of the windows are filled with advent lights and candles. It is so pretty.

We had a Christmas lunch with my family today -- I got cozy flannel pjs and Richie got a vintage fishing reel that my Grandfather used to use. It is very cool.

Tonight, my friends are I are going to eat Santa Lucia buns and drink glögg !! Stay warm and enjoy the weekend !!

A Daring New Scent

Hi lovies, I'm sorry I have been so MIA recently. Things have been busy, busy, busy. Anyway, the other day I bought a new perfume which I am in love with, Cannabis Santal by Fresh. It is musky and masculine, but so deliciously warm. I love it. I also saw that the line also has a Cannabis Rose perfume which sounds just as lovely.  What's your favorite scent ?

I Love my Friends

Tomorrow is my birthday. I have no idea what my dears have arranged,  but I received my first clue this morning and it is precious!! I love you guys, xoxo !!!!!!

Sunny Beats

So in SF, my dear friends introduced me to the perfect sunny day music; King Sunny Ade and His African Beats. To me, it sounds like summer, nothing short of a dreamy drum circle on a far away beach at sunset with your best friends and a cocktail served out of a coconut. What a way to start the weekend !!

Movies in the Park

Summer is here !! NoMa Summer Screen is a free weekly outdoor film festival,  that features a  local BBQ by Smokin' Somethin', popcorn and Italian ice, and music by Fatback. What a wonderful way to enjoy a Wednesday night picnic in the park, snuggled up on a blanket under the stars.

Design On the Go

Next winter, my little brother wants to convert an old van into a 4x4 home and explore national parks across the country. It is a crazy idea, but once you check out landscape architect Andreas Stravropoulos'  airstream, it also seems quite brilliant and a ton of fun.

Chivalry is Not Dead

Sometimes living in a city gets me down. I hate having doors slammed in my face, being cut in line, or never being offered a hand when its obvious that lending one would really help. The other day though, on my way into the apartment full of bags spilling all over and almost in tears, one of my neighbors came to my rescue and helped me. It was so sweet, so chivalrous. What a true gent !!

Anyway, these adorably hilarious pictures really inspired me to keep spreading the love around. I know that you dears are already so kind, but I ask you all this week to go out of your way and do something extra nice to a stranger. Imagine how lovely the world would be if we all put in the extra effort. XO.

Sweet Southern Comfort

Kentucky is incredible, we truly had a lovely time full of true southern hospitality. It was delightful. I am going to develop my pictures later this week, and will get some of the digital ones sent over soon. They are a ton of fun , you will dig !!

Magical Photos

I love this new blog, A Thing For,  that I found today. It has the most beautiful photographs.  Each set tells such a pretty story, I'm delighted by the dreamlike, feminine quality. They really remind me of Tace's pictures. The photos are such a lovely combination of fashion and fine art photography. I'm definitely using this site as inspiration !!

Dreamy = Holga

This weekend, I was feeling quite nostalgic and decided to buy a Holga camera. These simple plastic cameras are incredible, they have 2 shutter speeds, 4 apeture settings, and no focus. I first started shooting with a Holga in my high school's freshman year art class, my teacher loved the idea of such a pure and simple camera. The images are uber-dreamy, soft, and unpredictable. Light leaks and color filters make it so much fun, and such a different experience from shooting with a digital camera. I'm so excited to bust it out during Derby !! Here are some great images I found online, to  give you a feel for the magical images that Holgas can produce. I can't wait to develop my film !!

This is easily my new favorite website. Started by Todd Selby, a wonderful photographer, the website documents friends and famous artsy types in their beautiful homes and work spaces. What a great idea for budding photographers who want to take pictures of their friends !!

PS. how cute is this couple, their house is so fun and whimsical. I totally have a new girl crush on the woman, Fanny Bostrom, who is from Sweden and totally adorable.

Hello my dears,

I am so sorry that I have not been writing, my family has been in town and I have been so busy taking them all over the city. It's the first time my grandmother has been in DC, but it certainly has been an exciting (and extended due to the volcanic ash hanging over Europe) trip. I promise the next few weeks will be full of exciting posts about everything from great party ideas to gorgeous Derby hats !!

Fresher Flowers

I love flowers, they instantly transform any room into a dreamy, springtime escape !! I read a great tip today for hydrangeas ( one of my favorites, their color depends on the soil that they are grown in, so cool) ... in order to keep them fresh, you should change the water and cut the stems everyday. That may be a lot of work, but I think it's totally worth it.
