Magical Photos

I love this new blog, A Thing For,  that I found today. It has the most beautiful photographs.  Each set tells such a pretty story, I'm delighted by the dreamlike, feminine quality. They really remind me of Tace's pictures. The photos are such a lovely combination of fashion and fine art photography. I'm definitely using this site as inspiration !!

Dreamy = Holga

This weekend, I was feeling quite nostalgic and decided to buy a Holga camera. These simple plastic cameras are incredible, they have 2 shutter speeds, 4 apeture settings, and no focus. I first started shooting with a Holga in my high school's freshman year art class, my teacher loved the idea of such a pure and simple camera. The images are uber-dreamy, soft, and unpredictable. Light leaks and color filters make it so much fun, and such a different experience from shooting with a digital camera. I'm so excited to bust it out during Derby !! Here are some great images I found online, to  give you a feel for the magical images that Holgas can produce. I can't wait to develop my film !!

Crafting

Tonight, the girls and I are planning to stay in and have a crafts night, my favorite !! Check out this adorable lazy susan idea, what a wonderful piece to add to any table.

I just stumbled across the cover of up and coming photographer Tace Samet's first book. Doesn't it look so pretty, I can't wait to buy it. 

Fun Idea

This is easily my new favorite website. Started by Todd Selby, a wonderful photographer, the website documents friends and famous artsy types in their beautiful homes and work spaces. What a great idea for budding photographers who want to take pictures of their friends !!

PS. how cute is this couple, their house is so fun and whimsical. I totally have a new girl crush on the woman, Fanny Bostrom, who is from Sweden and totally adorable.

Hello my dears,

I am so sorry that I have not been writing, my family has been in town and I have been so busy taking them all over the city. It's the first time my grandmother has been in DC, but it certainly has been an exciting (and extended due to the volcanic ash hanging over Europe) trip. I promise the next few weeks will be full of exciting posts about everything from great party ideas to gorgeous Derby hats !!

Fresher Flowers

I love flowers, they instantly transform any room into a dreamy, springtime escape !! I read a great tip today for hydrangeas ( one of my favorites, their color depends on the soil that they are grown in, so cool) ... in order to keep them fresh, you should change the water and cut the stems everyday. That may be a lot of work, but I think it's totally worth it.

Hi friends, I am so sorry I have been M.I.A. these past few days, my computer has been in a major funk. Anyway, I hope you have been enjoying spring, I certainly have !! This weekend should be great too, make sure to check out the Done and Done Festival. Six local bands are teaming up with six NYC bands, to create an awesome afternoon of solid music and friends.

PS. lots of love to my SF dears, I miss you. Hope the sunshine is finally coming back out again !!

First off, how cute are these hand made vases from design sponge. Also, a super yummy recipe to try for spring!!

Anyway, today I went to church at All Souls Unitarian, and had a beautiful picnic after with my friend Dave. We heard the most inspirational sermon at our service, it truly touched me and even brought a few tears to my eyes. Love is all we have, so please, share yours with those you care about. Bikes

Spring is here and the weather is lovely, therefore we should all be riding bikes. For those of you who have a bike, Critical Mass is going down tonight at 6.30 pm in Dupont circle. For those of you who don't have a bike, or want to add to yours, there is is a bike swap tomorrow in four different locations throughout the city. Happy Riding !!
